Face to Face with Fear

I was at my breaking point, my body was in so much pain. I felt like jekyll & hyde, my left side completely at peace while my right side body would be in pain just sitting. The car accident 6 years back was no longer working for me as an excuse. I was beginning to see that accident as a calling from the universe slapping me in the face to do the work of looking in. I kept using my yoga-asana practice to get my body back in order but the thing was my body was not holding the heal. With this I discovered there was something else working behind the scenes with this injury but I did not know what. My practice became more therapeutic, and for the first time I found a solid self practice. I needed the silence of a room so I could really be with myself and listen to my body speak. I was able to watch my every move and be aware of how it was resonating within. Through this intuitive practice I began diving deeper in than I ever have before. Emotions started to come up, I was this yoga teacher shaming myself … Read More

Goodness Gracious

“Virtue is bold, and goodness never fearful.”-William Shakespeare Today we talked about goodness and the truth of that. The conversation came up around being bold. If we are bold in our morals, light will shine, work will be done. We will in turn question our actions to stay on the path of truth. Our actions are how we show up in a situation not, “that person did this to me”. As I learned from lululemon, you have to know how to lead yourself before you can lead others. Everything that arises to us is there for us to reflect, how we look at life is our choice. So what do we see? A washed out soap opera of dramatic stories that keep us caught in waves of the dream or clear effortless flow purely dancing with life (aka something beyond any of our dreams)? Rejoice, all there is, is (the) experience, dance in the light of goodness.

Live Your Truth

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.” -Winston Churchill Over dinner with friends I got to dive into a great conversation on the power of “Just Say No.”  Yes this class of 2000 motto applies to not only drugs but more importantly life. So often we don’t listen to ourselves and we over commit. We don’t want to hurt someones feelings but ultimately we do by either canceling last minute or not being fully present. I am not saying don’t show up for others, I am saying show up for life. If you allow yourself to be pulled in several directions aimlessly do you lose your grounding? Are you giving your energy out to the point where you don’t have enough energy to stoke your own fire? There is more to life than keeping it pretty. The dirty work allows for the grounding and nourishing of your calling. What makes you light up, what feeds your soul, what are you contributing to this collective consciousness? The million dollar question is; are you running away from your own light to live in the shadows because it’s comfortable? … Read More

Full Bloom

So often we look outside of ourselves to create our dreams. What if you looked in? Can you close your eyes and really connect with your centered self? Can you listen to your soul, your gut and move from there? Within my life practice I am finding out how important grounding really is. If you move from the seed that is planted you will bloom. If you are constantly uprooting yourself with thought that perhaps where you are is not right there is the possibility that you are not allowing yourself to take root and grow. In our yoga practice this is physically being connected to where are hands, feet or seat lies. Can you let that translate into your spiritual practice? Can you hear your soul speak and are you really listening? At a time when we are setting resolutions instead of looking out can you start from within and let that live? No longer will you be the seeker looking, trying and grasping (aparigraha) but rather you might move into space where you are peeling back the layers to uncover and find: Know that everything you need you already have, that is abundance. The love and the light … Read More

Light the Match

I have been building a fire for the past 30 years but I have always been to fearful to light a match and let it burn. I have had amazing opportunities in my life but I played it safe, a lot. I was a people pleaser who did not know how powerful it was to please myself. Yes, you light that fire, it burns giving warmth and light to those around you. I instead just keep focusing on properly stacking my wood logs with the perfect amount of kindle underneath to makes others proud of me. To say, “look at this perfectly built fire, look over here and admire how awesome this is but it’s not ready yet so don’t put a match near it”. I stumbled in the dark so that in the future I could have a great light. Maybe it’s age or maybe it’s the process but it feels so good to let it burn! I can always feed the fire, sometimes it will just simmer, other times it will be a full on bonfire and heck, if it burns out, I can build another one, imagine that! I am not saying burn yourself down to the … Read More
